ETIAS for venezuelan citizens

The European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) or in its Spanish acronym SEIAV (European Travel Information and Authorization System) will be implemented in a few months to enter the European Union (EU). But not for all countries, only for citizens of countries that do not require a visa to enter the Schengen zone, as is the case of Venezuela. Here are some key points about ETIAS and its application for Venezuelans:

  1. Authorization Requirement: As of the date ETIAS comes into force, expected in early 2025, venezuelan citizens will need to obtain an ETIAS authorization before traveling to any Schengen zone country.2.
  2. Application Process:  –  Online Form: Travelers will need to complete an online form, providing personal data, passport information, details about their trip and answer some security questions. –  Response Time: In most cases, a response is received within minutes, but the process can take up to 96 hours if additiona review is required.
  3. Cost: The fee for the ETIAS application will be approximately 7 euros for adults (persons between 18 and 70 years of age). Minors and persons over 70 years of age will be exempt from paying this fee.
  4. Validity: The ETIAS authorization will be valid for three years or until the expiration date of the passport, whichever comes first. With a valid authorization, Venezuelans will be able to enter and leave the Schengen zone multiple times during its validity period.
  5. Reason for Travel: ETIAS is valid for short stays (up to 90 days in a 180-day period) and can be used for tourism, business, transit and medical treatment.
  6. Needed Documents:  – Valid venezuelan passport.  – E-mail address to receive authorization.  – Credit/debit card to pay the application fee.
  7. Application Not Approved: If an ETIAS application is denied, the applicant will receive a notification with the reasons for the rejection and will have the possibility to appeal the decision.

The implementation of ETIAS seeks to improve the security of the Schengen zone and better manage the flow of travelers, while facilitating the entry process for those who meet the security requirements.

It is important for venezuelan citizens planning to travel to Europe to stay informed about the exact date of implementation of ETIAS and the specific requirements to ensure that they comply with all regulations prior to their trip.
