Today, October 12, 2025, the EES system begins operating at all Schengen airports with international arrivals. Today is a key day for citizens of 60 countries who, starting next year, will have to apply for the ETIAS – SEIAV travel permit.

EES is key to the viability of ETIAS, as all data entered into ETIAS will be stored and checked in the EES system for future travel. All data on entries and exits to the Schengen area by citizens of 60 countries will be stored in the EES system and will be crucial for the approval of future travel authorizations.
