The time gap between EES vs. ETIAS launching

As we already know, the Schengen EES entry and exit control system will be implemented in European airports from the beginning of next year 2025. What we did not know is when, even if it was approximate, the ETIAS – SEIAV requirement would be implemented. We have always known that in order for ETIAS to work properly, it was necessary for EES to be perfectly installed at each airport and Schengen arrival area.
Well, finally the European authorities have revealed that ETIAS – SEIAV will start 6 MONTHS after the start of EES.
Therefore, making a rough calculation, if EES starts in February/March 2025, ETIAS will start in August/September. It is very important for airports to be prepared for the substantial change that will occur in the way they check incoming travelers at the border. Organization will be essential so that queues do not form, and these queues do not cause missed connections. Something similar happened with the BREXIT and the arrival, from that moment on, of the English at the borders, as the identification conditions changed, and the considerable increase in work was not well foreseen.
Surely, the successive delays that have been occurring for the implementation of both EES and ETIAS – SEIAV, have to do with the search for the best preparation of each airport for this new way of traveling to Europe, which is about to begin.
