Spain ready for EES

The Spanish authorities confirm that the country’s international airports are fully prepared for the imminent start of the EES Schengen entry and exit registration system.

The start of the EES system at all Schengen entry airports is key to the implementation of ETIAS – SEIAV, an entry form for nationals of 60 countries exempt from visa requirements, and for a maximum stay of 90 days. EES will soon be operational at airports throughout the Schengen area. Some cities are still behind in the installation and are experiencing problems for the correct functioning of the system, but they are trying to solve it as fast as possible, as they have reached the start date of 2025.

We are confident that by March or April the start of the system will be made public and with that the new procedure to travel to Europe will start. And then 6 months after the start of EES, the ETIAS – SEIAV form will be required to be submitted electronically and will have to be approved before starting any airline reservation or paying for any travel related service. This step will be at the top of the list of formalities that involve a trip to Europe.
